The NFL has a long-standing of supporting and honoring our troops. From performing the National Anthem at the beginning of the game featuring a Color Guard from all branches of the military to Halftime events that spotlight the troops, the NFL makes it a point to show appreciation for all our service men and women do. And this is drilled down all the way to individual teams.

This past Monday, John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, cancelled pre-season practice and took his team to Washington, D.C. They first made a stop at the Pentagon and then made their way to Arlington National Cemetery.

One moment stood out for the team as teammates wide receiver Keenan Reynolds (Navy) and defensive back Otha Foster (Marines) participated in a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. After the wreath laying and the changing of the guard, the team visited with the soldiers who stand guard around the clock at the tomb.

During the team’s Pentagon tour, the players heard from General Mark A. Milley, the Chief Staff of the Army, and General Robert B. Neller, the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Coach Harbaugh summed up the experience best: “‘How fortunate and blessed are we to experience a day like this?’ Harbaugh asked. ‘It’s humbling, and we are so appreciative (Ravens, Downing).'”
